Meet Cesar!

2 Year-Old ~ Pomeranian

Beyond adorable, this funny, feisty little fella is going to steal your heart!

At just shy of two-years-old, Cesar is looking to start again. He was rescued last year from a horrible life in a puppy mill where he was born. He found a wonderful adoptive home, but sadly, his owner passed away unexpected, and Cesar was returned to our care.

As a result of his situation, Cesar is feeling a little insecure and confused. He will need a patient family who will give him a little time to make sense of all the changes, and begin to feel safe and secure again. Once he does he adores love, affection and attention.

Cesar is also very dog social, and we would love to find him a home with another canine companion as we feel it will help him to build his confidence again, and give him an opportunity to follow behavioural cues that will help him understand that he is safe and home. He has a wonderful play drive with other dogs, and he is quicker to approach them than he is humans.

Cesar 's housetraining is nearly perfect. With his recent confusion, his foster found he did regress a little bit, but once they learned to read his signals, there were far fewer accidents. When his fosters are out of the house, he is fine to stay in his crate, but he can also be allowed to free roam for short periods when alone and shows no sign of mischievous or destructive behaviour and shows no separation anxiety. He also enjoys rides in the car.

It is important to recognize that at his age, Cesar is still exhibiting lots of high puppy energy so he will need an active family who can keep him active and busy. He would love a fenced yard where he can enjoy some zoomies and playtime as well as regular walks.  We do feel he could be a flight risk, and he is too small for invisible fencing to protect him from prey animals, so we are looking for a home with a fully fenced yard.

Because Cesar is a little nervous with a lot of activity, a home without young children would suit him best. Older children who can be respectful of his space would be ok. Cesar did live with a cat in his previous home without incident.

Cesar has a gorgeous coat that will require brushing to stay healthy and mat-free. The more he is brushed, the less he will shed, but his adoptive family can expect to see some shedding from him.

Overall, Cesar is a happy, bouncy, highly adaptable young dog. He would thrive in basic obedience training/puppy classes which would also give him an opportunity for more socialization.

He will make a wonderful addition to family looking for a small but sassy little dog!
