Meet Jewel!

5 Years Old ~ Lab Mix

Lovely, loyal and looking for her place to shine!

Jewel is a spirited and loyal five-year-old pup who’s looking for a special kind of forever home — one that truly sees her for the gem she is! With a big personality and an even bigger heart, Jewel thrives when she’s part of the action and treated as a true member of the family. She’s affectionate on her own terms and not shy about letting you know when she wants attention — if you’re not petting her when she thinks you should be, she’ll let out a little bark to remind you!

Jewel has lived harmoniously with another dog, but the relationship was built from puppyhood, and as she’s grown into a strong and confident adult, it’s become clear she prefers to be the only dog in the home. She’s not a fan of unfamiliar dogs and wouldn’t do well at a dog park or in a home that expects her to share space with canine siblings.

Jewel has also shared her space with cats, and while she mostly ignored them, she could get a little territorial if they tried to invade her favorite spots, like the bed or the couch. She has lived with respectful older children and has always done well with kids, but we do think Jewel would be happiest in a quieter home with older children/teens or adults only. She appreciates her space and does best when new people are introduced slowly and thoughtfully. With her people, Jewel is loyal and loving — she just asks for the same respect and understanding in return.

At home, Jewel is beautifully house trained and comfortable being crated when left alone. On a typical day, she wakes up between 6:30 and 8:30 a.m., enjoys a morning Dentastick, heads out for a bathroom break, and then spends the day either lounging with her humans or enjoying time on the back deck. Dinner happens around 5 or 6 p.m., followed by a walk and bedtime around 9:30 or 10. She walks well on leash with a harness, although she can tug occasionally, and she absolutely loves the opportunity to run off-leash in private, secure areas.

Jewel is not a flight risk, but she is not a candidate for off-leash dog parks and should always be supervised outdoors. She’s currently fed once a day in the evening — kibble with some freeze-dried beef or another tasty topper. She isn’t food-possessive and has no known sensitivities, though peanut butter is a no-go for her.

Jewel’s ideal home would be with an active person or family who enjoys the outdoors and is committed to including her in their daily life. She would love to have a large, fenced-in yard to play in, and she’ll thrive in a home where she’s the only pet and where any children are older and respectful of her boundaries.

More than anything, Jewel needs someone who will be patient as she acclimates to a new home and who understands that building trust and routine is essential for her happiness. With the right match, Jewel will be an incredibly loyal companion — full of affection, spunk, and love. If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind dog who will keep you company on life’s adventures and curl up beside you at the end of the day, Jewel just might be your perfect match!
