Taco - 1 Year Old Mexipup

Taco was rescued by our partners in Mexico as a young pup, abandoned with his siblings on a vacant lot. He was malnourished, starving and his mom could not be found. Despite this difficult beginning in life, Taco continues to grow and thrive, and today he is healthy and doing incredibly well in his foster home.

Taco arrived to us very shy and timid, but has begun to gain confidence and is learning how wonderful it is to be a dog! We feel that he would benefit from having another dog in the house who is friendly and well-balanced as he will take these behavioural cues and learn from them. He is perfectly housetrained and his foster family are working daily with him on leash training and basic commands. He is interested in chasing squirrels so he is currently learning to use a halti to help him to overcome his urge to pull on leash.

Taco is polite and well-mannered in the home, and can roam free when left alone without issue. He absolutely LOVES to play with toys, especially chew toys. He is cat friendly and great with older children who treat him respectfully.

Because of his timid nature when meeting new people, particularly men, it does take him a little time to warm up, but once he understands that he is safe, you will see what a sweetheart he truly is!

His ideal home would lean towards the quieter side, with a family who respects his need to slowly adjust and settle in. Taco absolutely loves to spend time playing outside, so a fenced in backyard is a must for this little man, in addition to his much-loved daily walks.
