Female - 1 Year - Mexipup
Meet Prime! This gorgeous girl came to us after being rescued as a young pup off the streets of Mexico. Due to her difficult start in life, she is very nervous in unfamiliar situations, but her confidence has come a very long way since being in our care. For playful Prime to live her best life, she will need at least one other well-balanced, happy dog in her forever home who can match her energy and puppy play drive. Since lots of activity and loud noises are still frightening to her, we are looking for a quiet space, with no young children. A fully fenced yard (no invisible fencing please) is an absolute must for Prime. When meeting new people, Prime will be very shy and standoffish, and therefore we are looking for a human or family who will understand and fully respect her need for time and space in order for her to feel safe enough to blossom and show her sweet and sassy side. Once she trusts, the love and affection will follow. Trying to force this on her before she is ready will only cause her to shut down and retreat. Prime also dislikes being confined, and therefore crates seem to be a source of stress and anxiety for her at this time, but her Foster Mum continues to work on making the crate feel less scary for her. Her preferred place to sleep is in bed snuggled up with her Foster Mum which is where she feels safest. Her leash skills continue to improve, and she seems to walk best when with another confident dog at her side, otherwise she is more skittish and timid of the sights and sounds around her. Her housetraining is still a work in progress, and she needs to be taken outside frequently throughout the day to help her reinforce this. Prime does not have a mean bone in her body. She is pure sweetness and love which she will show you once she knows she is safe and loved, and then you will see the immense potential in this beautiful, gentle soul.
