Ivy ~ 8 Months ~ Mexi-Mix
Meet Ivy! This pretty little girl came from an abandoned litter left outside of the shelter doors belonging to our partnering rescue in Puebla, Mexico. Since landing in Canada, she has been acclimating to her new world and working on confidence building with her foster family. Ivy is dog-friendly and would likely enjoy having a canine companion in her forever home to help her feel secure, but she may also benefit from lots of one on one human attention as well.
For a young pup, Ivy has exceptional house manners. She has not had one accident since joining her foster family, and she will quietly pace by the door when she needs to go to the bathroom. She is quiet and calm in her crate, and has been sleeping in it at night. She loves her chew toys, and they keep her busy and out of mischief. As a teething pup, we strongly recommend she has safe, suitable chew toys available to her to ensure she doesn't chew what she isn't supposed to.
Because Ivy is shy, and a little timid of her new world, we feel a quieter home would suit her fine. Her Foster Family are working on her leash skills, which seems to be her biggest challenge right now as leash walks are an entirely new experience for her....but she is coming along! She would love to have a safe, well-secured yard (no invisible fencing please) where she can enjoy free play as well. It is obvious that Ivy has loads of potential, and are looking for a family who will be committed to working on confidence building and socialization with her, and would love to see her enrolled in puppy classes to help her in all of these areas as well as mastering basic obedience and strengthening her bond with her forever humans.
Given her difficult beginning in life, it is no surprise that this little beauty needs a little time and patience when meeting new people, but it really doesn't take her long to warm up once she feels safe. Ivy shows no signs of resource guarding, or other challenging behaviours at this time, and we want to see her in a forever home where she will continue to grow into a confident, well-balanced and happy dog.
