At just 2 years old, Ila is a sweet and sensitive girl with a quiet charm that grows on you more each day. She came into our care with a group of dogs, and it’s clear she does enjoy the company of other canines. She shows a fondness for the small neighbour dog in her foster home, often peeking through the fence to say hello, and would likely thrive with another calm dog companion in her forever home.

 

Ila is affectionate, cuddly, and happiest curled up next to her person for belly rubs. She settles easily into routines and enjoys a cozy day of light exploration in the yard, watching birds and sniffing around before trotting back inside to relax. Though not overly energetic, Ila would benefit from consistent gentle interaction, both to keep her stimulated and help curb her habit of collecting small household items during the night—often just moving things around out of boredom, but never destroying them.

 

House training is a work in progress. Ila understands she should go outside and responds well to praise, but occasional accidents suggest she may have been used to pee pads in her past. She’s crate trained and settles comfortably when left alone, showing no signs of separation anxiety. Her foster is trialing overnight crating to help reinforce good habits, and she’s adapting well.

 

Ila is friendly with people, though she may startle easily and needs a little time to build trust—especially with unfamiliar men. Once comfortable, she’s quick to offer her belly for a rub. Ila has done well around older children and would be best suited to a home with dog-savvy kids over ten.

 

Leash walking is still a learning process for Ila, so a fenced yard is a must while she gains confidence. She’s shown interest in chasing squirrels and rabbits but hasn’t met cats or farm animals yet. She doesn’t show food or toy guarding and enjoys grazing on her kibble, especially in the evenings, with the occasional treat of lettuce, banana, or dehydrated chicken.

 

Overall, Ila is a gentle, loving girl who would do well in a quiet home—whether with a single person, a mature couple, or a mellow family. A small dog companion and a soft couch would be the icing on the cake.
